Grade 12 learner (18) gunned down in Malvern

"He was about to close the gate to the driveway when he was gunned down."

Cleveland SAPS is investigating the murder of an 18-year-old who was allegedly shot and later died from his wounds after being attacked by two unknown gunmen in Malvern.

The motive is unknown. The boy was attacked on Ambush Street on July 9.

“According to information received from the police, the victim, Malibongwe Mlambo, was found laying on the pavement outside his home, with several gunshot wounds,” Capt Johan Jordaan, Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, told the EXPRESS.

“The ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital, but later died. A case of murder is being investigated,” said Jordaan.

“Witnesses who spoke to police described how Malibongwe, who is said to be a Grade 12 learner, was parking his vehicle inside the yard when the attack occurred.

“He was about to close the gate to the driveway when he was gunned down,” added Jordaan.

“We are in urgent need of information so that we can arrest the suspects involved in this brutal crime. The case has been handed over to a detective at the station for further investigation.”
