The NEWS and EXPRESS journalists were on scene in Malvern this morning as police tried to disperse looters.

A number of shops and vehicles were brunt last night during violent protests in the area.

Police officers in Jeppestown have escorted foreign shop owners and their goods out of the area.

Residents are advised to avoid the areas affected.

Captain Johan Jordaan advised residents to always put their won safety first.

More than 22 protestors have been arrested for public violence.
