EDITOR’S COMMENT – City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe’s comment is as follows:
Wherever the park department’s staff clean up the gardens, they are responsible for removing the rubble which was generated.
The rubble or leaves are usually removed on the same or next day of cleaning depending on whether the equipment and transport required to remove it is available.
Municipal workers which community members feel are not providing adequate services can be reported to the City.
They can be reported to the nearest municipal office, by telephone or email.
An internal process will be conducted to establish facts and implement disciplinary action where warranted.
All complaints regarding service delivery should be referred to the Customer Care Call Centre number.
Depending on the circumstances, community members can prune municipal trees.
A formal request should be submitted to the City for investigation and approval.
If no approval is given, community members can be fined if they trim or cut a municipal tree.
