Update: Bedfordview and Edenvale fire stations work together to put fire out

William Ntladi said the Edenvale Fire Station was also called in to keep the fire under control.

Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) is investigating the fire at Creaky Tree in Bedfordview on August 31.

William Ntladi, DEMS district manager and media liaison, said fire and emergency management services received a call at about 11.30pm due to a grass fire to which crews from Bedfordview Fire Station responded.

“On arrival, the crews found a lapa on fire of which the roof had already collapsed,” said Ntladi.

Ntladi said the Edenvale Fire Station was also called in to keep the fire under control.

“Crews battled the flames with water till around 5am, when they arrived back at the station,” said Nltadi.

He said there were no casualties on scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
