Update: Water supply in Bedfordview not completely restored

Humphreys said Bedfordview is on top of the system and before the reservoir can be filled, all other reservoirs need to be filled first.

Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys said water in some parts of Bedfordview is continually on and off.
This comes after City of Ekurhuleni updated residents on September 20 that water supply in Bedfordview wad slowly recovering.
“Water comes from the Rand Water reservoir on Meyer Hill. This is the supply that was interrupted by the power outage on September 11, as it has to be pumped from the treatment plants,” said Humphreys.
She said the water reaches Bedfordview on a gravity or siphon feed.
Humphreys said Bedfordview is on top of the system and before the reservoir can be filled, all other reservoirs need to be filled first.
“Bedfordview is supplied with water through a diversion valve from the reservoir that goes straight into the Bedfordview water system,” said Humphreys.
“This on and off water availability will continue until all the downstream reservoirs are filled,” said Humphreys.
