Local artist releases first album
“I think people who enjoy songs with deep lyrics, and enjoy messages behind songs, will appreciate the album.”
After four years of producing singles and music videos, Edenvale resident and rapper Luthabo Ndlovu (Lawd Propaganda) released his first extended play (EP) album.
The 10-track EP titled Umbilical Cord was released for commercial purchase on September 30.
“This is my first body of art I have released as an artist. I started working on it in 2015,” said Luthabo, also known as PropagandaSA
“I can’t explain how it feels; it feels magical, and when I think about it, it’s like wow.”
Luthabo said the album focuses on a variety of relevant topics including gender-based violence, depression and substance abuse.
“I believe this album will most appeal to Edenvale residents as it talks about substance abuse, something which I believe the town is affected by.”
“I grew up in Edenvale and know first-hand of people hustling for drug-related activities, and how it can jeopardise and put families in danger.”
Luthabo said in recent months he went through a rough patch.

“I went through a period where I lost people whom I had invested a lot of emotions and time into.”
He said his experience inspired him to create one of the songs in the album.
“I used all of the emotions and the feelings I had and poured myself into the song.”
Luthabo said there were two reasons he chose Umbilical Cord as the album’s title.
“Everyone of us comes from the womb of a woman, and at one stage we were all connected to an umbilical cord.”
He hopes the album will remind people of where they came from, and their connection to their roots.
“The other reason I chose the name was because as an artist I am still growing.”
“It feels like I am in the womb of the music industry and my due date is soon.”
Luthabo said people who would enjoy his album the most may not necessarily be rap fans.
“I think people who enjoy songs with deep lyrics, and enjoy messages behind songs, will appreciate the album.”
