Rosie Crisafulli of Edenvale High School said the severe droughts seem to be worsening in the region.

“The initiative was to send a box of hope to the families who will be experiencing Christmas in drought conditions.”

Rosie also said many farmers have been forced to downscale and use their remaining resources to feed animals and buy basic products to survive.

“We also added a few luxury items such as rusks, biscuits and condensed milk to encourage them. A number of other charitable organisations have also stepped in to aid the farmers.”

A full bakkie left from Edenvale High School on October 25 for Paarl.

The donations will be distributed to those in need.
