Traffic volumes slow between Gauteng and Mpumalanga (Gallery)

The window period for interprovincial travel has ended and traffic volumes have slowed down.

The roadblock held between Gauteng and Mpumalanga on Saturday, May 9 was very quiet.

The window period for interprovincial travel has ended and traffic volumes have slowed down.

The movement of people to other provinces was permitted from May 1 to 7.

This arrangement was to allow people who were in lockdown in other provinces, other than where they reside or work, to return to their respective provinces. Interprovincial movement was once again prohibited from May 8.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Gabisile Shabalala called on taxi drivers to obey the rules and urged all taxi operators to ensure that no passengers are allowed inside their vehicles without face masks.

“Government is working around the clock to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and in order for us to win everyone must respect the measures put in place to eradicate the pandemic.

“Therefore, those who disobey the law should face the consequences of their behaviour,” said Shabalala.
