Edenvale rallies together as SA moves to level three

Hart believes although some restrictions will be lifted, level three will be similar to level four.

As the national lockdown proceeds to level three, Ward 18 Clr Heather Hart explained how the lockdown brought Edenvale’s spirit to light.
Hart said since the start of the lockdown she has received numerous requests for assistance as the situation became more difficult for each household

“It has been a real eye-opener to see how many people in Edenvale need help.

“At the same time, it’s been great to hear of neighbours looking after one another with donations of food during the lockdown.”

Hart said although there are times when it is hard for her to keep her sense of composure the lockdown has brought community members together.
“I have to thank the community and Tabitha House for the donations of food and assistance in packaging and distributing food to those in need. ”

Hart believes although some restrictions will be lifted, level three will be similar to level four.
She said residents in her ward continue to be concerned about matters like visiting family members, moving homes, care providers for children while parents are working, and travelling across provincial borders.

When the NEWS spoke to Hart the level three regulations were still in draft form, however, she did believe moving down a level would assist the economy.
“I’d say there aren’t any major differences between level three and four but it will allow households to start earning an income again.”

As a councillor, Hart believes the lack of localised stats is problematic for community members and various departments.
She believes by hearing information, departments will be able to plan better.
“Our community needs information, uncertainty causes stress.”
