Koppies opens up more options

Hikers can join a 90-minute guided tour starting at 08:30 sharp from the reception hut in Judith Road, Emmarentia.

Every Sunday from 08:00 to 11:30, you can experience many varied options on Melville Koppies.

Because of the more relaxed Covid restrictions, visitors can now enjoy two of the options that were on offer before Covid.

Hikers can join a 90-minute guided tour starting at 08:30 sharp from the reception hut in Judith Road, Emmarentia.

Alternatively, on the first Sunday of every month visitors can join an 8km guided group hike.

The popular 8km guided hike has been re-introduced

The hike leaves at 08:00 sharp from the reception hut in Judith Road.

The hike includes Melville Koppies Central and East and those interested need to be reasonably fit.

Avid hikers can choose to take part in a self-guided 5km scenic hiking trail which can be done in ones own time.

For those interested in the nature and history of the area there is a self-guided Heritage Trail.

Maps and notes are provided.

The cost for entrance is R80 for adults and R40 for children.

Security on the Koppies is provided; park in secure parking opposite the entrance at Marks Park in Judith Road, Emmarentia.
