Jeppe Girls community mourns loss of beloved headmistress

"Miss G epitomised the Jeppe motto ‘Nothing is too difficult for the brave’ with every fibre of her being."

Jeppe High School for Girls announced on its Facebook page earlier today that the school’s headmistress Dina Gonçalves died today, June 9.

The school’s message reads: History of Jeppe Girls displayed beautifully

“It is with a deep sense of grief and loss that we announce that our highly esteemed and beloved headmistress since 2011 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

“Miss G epitomised the Jeppe motto ‘Nothing is too difficult for the brave’ with every fibre of her being.

“Since news of her grievous illness became public it is clear from hundreds of tributes that have been pouring in that she touched and inspired the lives of many learners, staff and parents in a profound way and she will be greatly missed by her Jeppe family and the broader education community.

“She has been a brilliant mathematics educator at the school since 1990.

“The school feels empty without her vibrant presence and leadership.

“In the words of the favoured Irish blessing so often sung by our choir – ‘until we meet again may God hold you – and us – in the palm of his hands.”
