Youth soccer tournament held in Ekurhuleni

Arthur Zwane, head coach of the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, expressed his satisfaction with the talent displayed by the young players in the competition.

Thembisa Destroyers FC and Isithembiso competed for the title of undisputed soccer champions in the Imvuselelo Sporting Organisation 1632 U23 soccer tournament on July 17.

The competition ran from July 6 to 16 and featured playoffs, knockout rounds and finals.

The Imvuselelo Sporting Organisation 1632 U23 soccer tournament featured Thembisa Destroyers and Isithembiso football clubs.

 

Arthur Zwane, head coach of the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, expressed his satisfaction with the talent displayed by the young players in the competition.

“The fact that a tournament for the youth was held in Ekasi made me happy. The talent is promising as I noticed two or more players who impressed.”

The winning team’s head coach Nyiko Hlongwane from Isithembiso expressed his gratitude for being part of the endeavour and taking home the title.

“We won the trophy, and for us, victory began with our mentality. It is more of a philosophy than a specific outcome.

“There are restrictions when we prioritise winning at all cost. We succeeded thanks to our dedication and commitment to excellence,” said Hlongwane.
