Two caught for kidnapping in Cleveland

The suspects allegedly abducted the victim and demanded a ransom of R400 000.

Two suspects were arrested for the kidnapping of a 28-year-old man recently at Cleveland informal settlement.

The suspects allegedly abducted the victim and demanded a ransom of R400 000.

They were arrested upon collecting the ransom money.

In another incident, a man was found dead from a gun wound to the head in an open field in Springs on Monday.
This was after his wife reported him to be missing.

“According to the wife, the man left his home heading to a meeting but never returned. On Tuesday his wife reported him missing.”

“His car was later found at a carwash in Kwa-Thema, said Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Colonel Sinothi Ndaba.
On Wednesday there was an ATM bombing at Kraft Road, next to the shops in Elandsfontein.

The police said experts have confirmed that no money was stolen during the incident.

They also believe the same suspects were involved in another ATM bombing at Primrose Spar.

Ndaba said the suspects have since been arrested and both incidents are investigated.

On Thursday a couple was robbed of R3 000 after a failed attempted hijacking at the Van Buuren off-ramp.

During the escape, the suspects managed to kidnap the wife and she hasn’t been found yet.

The police said the victim alleged that they were stopped by two armed suspects driving a silver Toyota Corolla.

The police said the investigation is ongoing.

One suspect was arrested for the possession of a hijacked vehicle on Friday with the help of private security.

The police are warning residents of a new trend used by criminals.

“Criminals are hijacking people with the purpose to extort money from their loved ones.

“Community members must be aware of this new trend as we are approaching the festive season,” said Ndaba.
