Edenvale’s Lions take on rivals

Edenvale's Lions embrace the wet weather to stay ahead of the competition.

Edenvale Lions Basketball Academy took to the courts despite the rainy weather on February 18 as they lay the ground for an upcoming friendly against Westcliff Eagles Basketball Club.

The club’s coach, Edson Makavan, said practise is a huge part of their culture. It helps them to prepare and stay ready for their upcoming friendlies, league games and tournaments.

“For friendlies, the teams have their leagues, and so do we, but we do cross-play for the betterment of the club and to gain experience, for fitness purposes and make friends.

“Though we are forever ready!”

The seniors and juniors practise at Edenvale Sports Club on Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00.

“Not to brag, but the boys grind. They have the passion and love the sport, even the coaches. We are here because we love the sport.

“And to witness the love shown for the sport by the boys. They enjoy playing in the rain.

“We train even when it is pouring as long as it isn’t a thunderstorm. If it’s drizzling like this, we don’t stop,” he concluded.

The Edenvale Sports Club is all abuzz when the team gets ready for action.
