Chinese delegation hosted by CoE’s whip of council

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between SA and China, which came into effect on January 1, 1998.

Whip of Council in Ekurhuleni Jongizizwe Dlabathi hosted a delegation from the People’s Republic of China and Chris Hani Institute at the Chris Hani Memorial Site, Thomas Nkosi Cemetry, in Germiston on August 20.

Dlabathi hosted the delegation in remembrance of the late Chris Hani.

There’s a strong tie between South African and Chinese governments.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between SA and China, which came into effect on January 1, 1998.

“Throughout the past 25 years, the two countries have deepened their wide-ranging bilateral relations, which have since been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership and underpinned by new 10-year strategic programmes of cooperation,” said Dlabathi.

“We are here on an exchange programme to make a meaningful contribution to SA in knowledge sharing, eradicating poverty and unemployment,” said Xu Jiangang, executive president of Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) who led a delegation of professors.

“We strongly believe that this visit will further strengthen our ties and we also appreciate the opportunity to be taken to this monument and to learn more about the legacy of Chris Hani.”

SAI is an organisation aimed at fostering civil servants, public administrators and policy researchers and to carry out social science studies and policy consultation.
