Vandalised toilets at Gillooly’s Farm spark safety and hygiene concerns
The City of Ekurhuleni says repairs are being arranged and security measures are under review after vandals damaged ablution facilities at Gillooly's Farm, sparking concerns from parkrun volunteers and the local ward councillor.
Following concerns raised by volunteers from the Gillooly’s parkrun and Ward 20 counillor about vandalism at Gillooly’s Farm, the City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed it is aware of the damage to the park’s ablution facilities.
One of the men’s bathrooms has been vandalised, resulting in a water leak, while faeces have been smeared on the two toilets.
City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the city had noted the vandalism with great concern.

“The damaged ablution facilities have been reported to the Real Estate Department for attention.Members of the public are urged to refrain from vandalising public facilities,” said Dlamini.
He said the city is also looking at increasing security at the facility.
Dlamini said security personnel are stationed at the park and are responsible for maintaining safety.
“The current security capacity is insufficient to continuously monitor the ablution facilities,” said Dlamini.
