Saheti learner scoops global award for science project

Angelos Chouvardas won an international award for a science project.

Saheti matriculant Angelos Chouvardas was part of a team that won third place with their project e-Aimodotes in the 33rd European Union Contest for Young Scientists 2022 held in Leiden, Netherlands, in September.

Angelos led the front and backend web development for an integrated e-blood donor information and alert system, which promotes voluntary activities such as blood and bone marrow donation as well as platelet removal.

In total, 132 young scientists aged 14 to 20 from 33 countries presented 85 projects in the fields of biology, chemistry, computing, engineering, environment, mathematics, medicine, physics and social science.

The contest was established by the European Commission in 1989 to encourage collaboration between young scientists and to afford them the opportunity to be mentored by some of Europe’s most distinguished researchers.
