Help Edenvale SPCA make the annual fundraiser a success

“Every little bit helps and makes a huge difference.”

The time of year has come again for Edenvale SPCA to host its annual Dogs Dinner Fund.

Started on October 1, the annual fundraiser will remain open for the next four months.

Last year, Edenvale SPCA raised R121 523 over four months.

It is only with the generosity of the community that Edenvale SPCA can care for the animals under its protection as well as the many it expects to take in as the year draws to an end.

Funds raised will help the SPCA see the new year as it hits the busiest time of year, which is between October and January.

Secretary Jade de Bruyn said that during this period, the SCPA finds that many animals are abandoned, dumped or surrendered.

This is because people don’t make proper arrangements for their animals when they go on holiday.

“This is only one sad example of what we deal with nearing the festive season,” she said.

De Bruyn said cruelty is rife this time of the year and rescues pile up.

“The more animals that come in, the more we will fill up, and along with that comes more need for food, medical treatment, washing blankets, paperwork, fuel, vehicle services and maintenance,” she said.

She appealed to community members to consider donating.

“Every little bit helps and makes a huge difference.”

She thanked everyone who supported the annual fundraiser.
