19 suspects arrested in Edenvale

“Nyaope, Khat, an undisclosed amount of money and counterfeit cigarettes were seized from the suspects."

During Operation Shanela, 19 suspects were arrested in Edenvale for various charges including the dealing of narcotics.

The joint operation took place on November 19.

Ekurhuleni SAPS spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela said officers from various Ekurhuleni stations were joined by representatives from Home Affairs, security companies, Gauteng traffic, provincial crime wardens, AfriForum and other law enforcement agencies.

Two traffic fines to the value of R10 500 were issued to motorists.

Sekgobela said one suspect was arrested for theft while another 16 were detained for being undocumented.
She said an additional two suspects were arrested for dealing drugs.

Nyaope, khat and an undisclosed amount of money was seized from the suspects.

Ekurhuleni district deputy commissioner Brigadier Lebohang Machakela commended the law enforcers for their efforts.

He applauded the concerned community members who worked with the police by sharing accurate information that led to the arrest of the suspects.
