Local rugby teams go head to head in friendly matches

Speaking about the club's preparation for the season, which starts in April, Vice-chairperson of the club Dick van Loggerenberg said it was full steam ahead.

Rugby teams clashed in friendly fun as they prepared for the season ahead as Edenvale Panthers and Harlequin took to the field.

Games were played at Edenvale Sports Grounds.

The results were as follows:

• Edenvale’s Barbarians won 17-5 against Harlequins

•The Panthers first team lost 26-10 against Harlequins

Edenvale’s Barbarians defend their try line as a Harlequin player tries to make a push and score.

Edenvale Rugby Club thanked Basil Green Ford and CTS Car Towing Services for their support and sponsorship towards the club’s kits.

Speaking about the club’s preparation for the season, which starts in April, vice-chairperson of the club Dick van Loggerenberg said it was full steam ahead.

“Edenvale and Harlequin’s have a good relationship so with the season around the corner both clubs decided to play friendlies,” said Van Loggerenberg.

He said the Edenvale Club will play their first season match at home on April 6.

Van Loggerenberg invites the community to support the club.

“We plan to host a variety of stalls and vendors. We hope to make it a fun family day,” said Van Loggerenberg.

Chairperson of the Panthers Club, Ernie Enslin, congratulated both clubs on their wins.
