Young soccer player selected for Brazil tournament
Muhammad comes from a proud footballing lineage, following in the footsteps of his late grandfather, Solly Raju, affectionately known as “Joko The Legend.”
Muhammad Mayet of Benoni has been given a golden opportunity to showcase his skills on an international stage.
He plays for Hola Skoko FC and has been selected to participate in a soccer tournament in Brazil from July 7 to 14.
His mother, Sauda Raju said his journey to this point has been nothing short of remarkable.
“At just seven days old, he faced his toughest match yet—open-heart surgery. He spent almost a month in the NICU, made a comeback and now, 11 years later, he taking on a new challenge which is playing soccer in Brazil.
“His love for soccer began at the tender age of four and since then, his passion has only grown. Over the years, he has played for various teams, including Young Stars FC, Mercurial Stars FC, SCBI and now Hola Skoko FC.
