Letter: Lack of maintenance at Gillooly’s Farm causes frustrations

We urge the City of Ekurhuleni to repair the toilet facilities and cut the grass at Gillooly’s Farm says parkrunner

Dear Editor,

We have a serious problem at Gillooly’s Farm.

Every Saturday morning, we host the Gillooly’s parkrun there.

However, in the past two weeks, they had no toilet facilities available. Where are the parkrunners supposed to go if they need to use a toilet?

Furthermore, the grass has only been cut once this season, and with all the recent rain, it has become completely overgrown.

You really must see what Gillooly’s Farm looks like now. We urge the City of Ekurhuleni to repair the toilet facilities and cut the grass at Gillooly’s Farm.

Our ninth birthday celebration is coming up on May 3, and we would love to host it in a well-maintained park. Are no rates and taxes paid to Ekurhuleni for the upkeep of public spaces?

Please help us restore Gillooly’s parkrun to a standard we can be proud of and continue to enjoy every Saturday morning.

Thank you.
