The City of Ekurhuleni has reminded residents and businesses that all outdoor advertising must receive prior approval from the municipality.
This includes any sign placed in, on, or visible from a public space within the city’s boundaries. Approval is required regardless of the property’s zoning and applies to all forms of outdoor signage.
Once approved, the permission is valid only for a specific period. A new application must be submitted if the sign is to remain in place after the approval expires.

The city also warns that no advertisement may use its corporate identity, logo, Coat of Arms, or any part of these registered symbols without written permission from the municipality.
Failure to follow these regulations is considered an offence. Offenders may face fines in accordance with the city’s official schedule of penalties.
The municipality urges all advertisers to comply with the bylaws to avoid penalties and help maintain proper urban management.
