City of Ekurhuleni welcomes arrest in assassination case

The CoE thanked law enforcement agencies after a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of its senior forensic official.

The CoE welcomed the arrest of a suspect linked to the murder of its late divisional head of forensic and investigations, Mpho Mafole.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the city thanked the police, the EMPD and the Hawks for their swift action and dedication to the case.

“This is a breakthrough, and we sincerely hope everyone involved will be captured and brought to justice,” the statement read.

Mafole was widely respected for his dedication, integrity and accountability, setting a high standard for public service.

His death has profoundly affected his colleagues, residents of Ekurhuleni, and the broader SA community.
