Edenvale SAPS leads GBV crime prevention at Verge Shopping Centre

A focused operation at Verge Mall saw Edenvale SAPS engage community on gender-based violence.

Edenvale SAPS and stakeholders demonstrated their commitment to community safety with a focused crime prevention operation, which highlighted gender-based violence.

The operation was held at the Verge Shopping Centre on July 30. It saw Edenvale SAPS join forces with the Gauteng crime prevention wardens and security personnel.

Edenvale Police Station’s communication officer, Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, said authourities engaged with community members and shop owners.

He said several pamphlets were distributed with messages of support.

Mashile said the centre’s management welcomed the initiative and encouraged members to visit all local malls to spread the word against GBV.

Edenvale SAPS station commander Colonel Ntombomzi Basholo welcomed the operation and encouraged the partnership between law enforcement, local businesses and the community.
