Quondam Retirement Village celebrates Heritage Day with festive morning tea

Quondam Retirement Village residents reflect and share how they celebrated spring and Heritage Day.

Residents at Quondam Retirement Village enjoyed a delightful morning tea in celebration of Heritage Day, organised by the village’s social committee.

The community centre was filled with bright colours, laughter, and a true spirit of togetherness as everyone gathered to honour South Africa’s rich cultural diversity.

Traditional treats such as koeksisters, milk tart, and vetkoek were served, sparking stories and memories among residents. The atmosphere was warm and festive.

“The Heritage Day tea was a lovely time to share memories with old and new friends. The committee did us proud with the great eats; they work hard to bring the villagers together,” said resident Virginia Bakker.

The celebration not only recognised South Africa’s diverse traditions but also highlighted the sense of belonging and community that makes Quondam Retirement Village a special place to call home.

Earlier in the month, residents welcomed the new season with a cheerful Spring Day celebration. Everyone joined in the fun by wearing their brightest, silliest socks, adding a splash of colour and laughter to the day.
