Saheti School sets sights on global partnerships and innovation in 2026

The school plans international collaboration, enhanced maths programmes, expanded arts offerings and a strong focus on sustainability in the year ahead.

The year 2026 promises to be one of exciting growth, innovation, and international collaboration for Saheti School.

Executive head Morag Rees said, “We are honoured to be establishing a twinning partnership with the historic Ambetios School of Cairo, founded in 1875.

This connection offers our learners a unique opportunity to engage with a fellow Hellenic institution on the African continent.

“We are also proud to participate in a global initiative of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, which invites students from Greek schools around the world to explore and celebrate the values of Olympism.”

While Saheti already enjoys a strong reputation in mathematics, Rees said they will further enrich this area by rolling out an enhanced Structured Numeracy Programme across the entire campus in 2026.

This unified approach aims to build robust numerical foundations, foster mathematical thinking, and improve problem-solving.

Increased participation in competitions and enrichment projects will support this vision.

A major milestone next year will be the Primary School’s role as host of the National Teachers’ Mathematics Conference in March 2026.

Under the theme “Maths Matters, From Curiosity to Complexity,” the conference will bring together educators from across South Africa to explore best practices in numeracy, problem-solving, and mathematics pedagogy, positioning Saheti at the forefront of national educational innovation.

“Our extramural and cultural offering will also grow significantly with the introduction of the ACE (Arts, Core and Extension) programme.

From 2026, all pupils will experience a broad range of skills, such as public speaking, lifesaving, debating, Greek dancing, and music appreciation, during the school day.

“Additional clubs, including Coding and Robotics, technical clubs, investment clubs, hackathons, and social responsibility projects, will be offered after school,” Rees shared.

She further emphasised that environmental sustainability will be a key focus across all phases of the school.

Initiatives will include recycling programmes, waste-reduction efforts, outdoor learning experiences, water-management studies, greenhouse cultivation, and the development of vegetable gardens, with meaningful involvement from staff, learners, parents, and the wider Senderwood community.
