Local matric students explore career paths at rocking future roadshow
Dowerglen High School learners experience the 2026 Rocking Future Career Expo aimed to inspire and inform learners about their future careers.
The 2026 Rocking Future Career Expos Roadshow went to Dowerglen High School on March 10. Vicky Saunders-Flaherty of Work Smart Communications shared that this was the 26th year the expos toured South Africa, creating and sharing impactful moments with learners where passion meets purpose, and that learners walk away inspired, informed, and excited about their futures, rather than anxious and uncertain about what lies ahead.

“The majority of our school leavers face major challenges when looking for employment or finding a place to study within state universities. The Rocking Future Career Expos, together with the Swivel 3D immersive online career expo, which is available to learners nationwide, are here to help,” Vicky said.
She added that expos were dedicated to helping South African school leavers choose their best career path, develop their skills, and find employment in a country with a critically high youth unemployment rate.
The expo is 100% free for learners and schools to participate in, and learners receive gifts from the expo’s brand partners, OXY and Playgirl/boy.

Vicky said the expos toured South Africa while distributing the Future Guide magazines, targeted at matric learners and packed with useful information to educate, motivate, and inspire readers. Learners got real, one-on-one time with expert advisors who help them explore the career paths that truly fit their passions, strengths and dreams.
Vicky further said the Rocking Future team performs an engaging, interactive live show with loads of valuable information, career guidance and inspiring tips that high school students can use to plan their future once they leave school.
The show is followed by dynamic exhibitions featuring brand ambassadors from South Africa’s top private tertiary educational institutions.

Creator of the Rocking Career Expo, Kay Cheytanov, shared this message with learners attending the expos:
“Success does not have a straight line. Instead, life will take you on a path of discovery, and if you are a lifelong learner, you will always win.
“I also want them to know that if they don’t get into the State University of their choice, life does not end. There are so many other options available to them. Trust the process and make sure the decisions made are well researched and understood.”
She further encouraged schools and educators to book their schools on time for the expo.
