Fire ravages through a property in Eden Glen
A family of three escaped unharmed in a volatile fire which guttered the entire roof of a double-storey apartment in Eden Glen, Edenvale.
A volatile fire broke out at a residential complex on Baker Road in Edenglen, Edenvale, on September 13.
City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) district manager media liaison William Ntladi said firefighters received an alarm at 17:41 on September 13 of a residential complex on fire in Baker Road, Edenglen, Edenvale, and swiftly responded to the scene for intervention.

Ntladi said backup was activated from Kempton Park, Bedfordview and Primrose due to the risk and volatility of the fire.
“On arrival, a double-storey apartment was gutted with flames predominantly on the roof section,” said Ntladi.
He said that in collaboration with private fire services, the flames were brought under control without further damage to adjacent structures.

Ntladi said three upper bedrooms, a study room, a restroom and a walk-in closet all had water damage, and the entire roof section caved in. The ground floor suffered water damage only.
No casualties were recorded on scene.
All three family members escaped without injuries.
“The cause of the fire is still undetermined and under investigation by fire safety and police officers,” Ntladi said.
