Itumeleng is a qualified educator and specialises in community engagement and conservation outreach.
“I’m passionate about environmental education and creating awareness of the importance of owls and their role in maintaining ecological balance,” she explained.
She introduces communities to the world of owls, their beauty as well as their enormous potential as environmental control partners in the management of rodents.
To achieve this, she believes it is essential to demystify the negative stigma surrounding owls in Southern Africa.
The talk will be held at 14:00 on October 31, and community members as well as visitors are welcome to attend.
An entrance fee of R30 for members and R50 for visitors (cash only) is charged to help cover expenses. Scholars receive free entry.
To get to the Education Centre, access the reserve from Ardeer Road, Modderfontein and follow signs to the lapa.
