Becoming an organ donor is one of the selfless things you can do for a person who is in need of a transplant.

Becoming an organ donor is one of the selfless things you can do for a person who is in need of a transplant.

However, some people feel uncomfortable about donating organs for various reasons such as cultural/religious beliefs and misunderstanding of the transplantation process.

The NEWS asked some of our readers how they feel about organ donation and this is what they had to say:

Hlami Mahlalela said: “I’m undecided about this issue because an organ is a part of you and God created you as a whole and I don’t know if He would like me to die with some organs missing but having said that it could also be a good thing because you could be saving a life.”
Detleve Marais said: “I personally would not want someone else’s organs inside me so I also don’t want my organs in someone else’s body.”
Penelope Mongwana said: “I don’t see the point of keeping the organs because you will be dead and those organs can save other people and give them another chance at living their lives.”
