Either due to weight loss or the natural ageing process, our eyebrows, faces, jowls and neck start to lose volume and sag, often giving a bull dog appearance.
Prior to the advent of the Silhouette Face and Neck Lift, most patients would seek advice and help, the main options being; a surgical facelift, or if the problem was less severe, the placement of lifting fillers and botox would be used.
Silhouette Face and Neck Lift is a surgical lift of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the face and neck by applying Silhouette Lift sutures without cutting away any excess skin.
The procedure is usually suitable for patients with sagging face and neck skin, for young people who require a better projection of the cheekbones, for those with deep nasolabial folds or visible marionette lines, for the patients with moderate sagging face and to correct sagging neck skin.
There is also improvement of the eyebrow contour by its lifting.
It is also popular among male patients, especially those balding ones, since hiding post-operative scars after the standard face-lifting procedure may be troublesome.
Silhouette Face Lift procedure is also applied in case of face asymmetry due to facial nerve paralysis.
Due to the minimally invasive nature of this treatment, there is far less downtime compared to traditional surgical facelifts, where excess skin is cut away and where the scars are significantly larger.
The healing time is much quicker, and most patients have no problem returning to work two to three days post procedure.
As each patient is different, the amount of lifting that may be necessary, or can be achieved, would be discussed on an individual basis.
When there has been significant weight loss or more marked ageing of the face, the use of Botox or fillers may be suggested as well to further enhance the result, as well as maintain the result for longer.
The results of the Silhouette Facelift can be expected to last for several years, much the same as the traditional surgical facelift.
Importantly, the procedure and technique, will and can only be performed by properly trained and accredited doctors.
The training for this procedure is extensive and it is also important to make sure that the correct products are used.
Unfortunately these days, generic versions of everything are available, which increases the risk of complications.
The technology involved in the procedure is also quite different to any other procedure that has been performed in the past, and hence, issues that may have occurred in the past are not applicable with this technique.
