Resident concerned over road damage

The driver of the truck did not seem worried about the oil spill, or the damage caused to the road. When I called his company, they did not seem eager to attend to the environmental damage that was caused until I spoke to a manager, but I am not sure if it was lip service.

EDITOR – A truck transporting a large transformer lost its load on Buwbes Road close to Terrace Road on Tuesday, February 11.

The transformer caused damage to the road and oil from it was spilled over the road.

This could have been a potential environmental disaster if the oil had flowed into the storm water system.

The driver of the truck did not seem worried about the oil spill, or the damage caused to the road. When I called his company, they did not seem eager to attend to the environmental damage that was caused until I spoke to a manager, but I am not sure if it was lip service.

I tried to call the municipality to report the problem but after a five minute wait for anybody in the helpdesk to answer my call, I gave up.

Looking on the internet, I did not see an environment protection agency I could call to report the problem to either.

I live in Edenvale and do not accept the transport company making our roads its dumping area without cleaning it up properly.

EBEN ROUX,

EDENVALE.
