EDITOR’S COMMENT – The brand and communications department for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has commented on a letter published in the May 28 edition of the NEWS, titled Residents face poor EMM workmanship.
The comment was as follows:
The EMM’s energy department identified the need to improve the lighting by replacing the existing streetlight network in the street.
The last phase in completing the project will be to replace the remaining two poles with street light control boxes.
The poles were made safe by covering the top portion with concrete cement and installing a pole cover.
Unfortunately, the pole cover was stolen and it would appear the pole opening was temporarily covered.
The meter boxes will be installed in order to conclude the project.
