EDITOR – I wish to lodge a complaint about the island installed on Palliser Road heading into the Greenstone area at the intersection of Aitken Road.
This area falls under the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) as metro police officers often pull over cars just before the three-way stop.
The island is way too big and long.
If you are turning from Aitken Road in Greenstone Drive, you can easily hit your vehicle on the island curbs or drive onto the island.
Then you have to contend with a large pothole and on rainy days, a flooded road.
In my opinion, no thought went into this planning.
I do not know why they did not just install a traffic light – this would have been much cheaper and far more effective.
Please advise what can be done about the island?

EDITOR’S COMMENT – The letter was sent to the spokesperson for the EMM, Mr Themba Gadebe, on February 16 for comment by February 20.
At the time of going to print, no comment was received.
