Letter: ‘Thanks for pothole repairs, but who’s responsible for new hazards?’

"The manhole covers are three inches lower than the surface of the road."

EDITOR – Thank you to City of Ekurhuleni for fixing most of the potholes in 13th Avenue, Edenvale.

It is really good to drive up the road in a straight line instead of looking like a drunk crab weaving through the hazards.

Kudos to you.

I would also just like to find out who was responsible for the new hazards at the top end of Andries Pretorius Road after the Van Riebeeck Road intersection?

The manhole covers are three inches lower than the surface of the road.

This is a potential nightmare for riders and drivers, never mind the toll it takes on your tyres and wheel rims.

Seriously, you had one job.

Curt Muhlenberg.

EDITOR’S COMMENT – Comment from City of Ekurhuleni was requested before October 9.

CoE replied that “the request has been processed to the relevant department for comment”.

The NEWS followed up on October 21 and no comment was received.
