EDITOR – On January 15, I went to book and pay for my learner’s test at Bedfordview Licensing Department.
I scheduled the test for 9am on January 31.
I am a student at Tuks, this was during holidays, which made it a lot easier and convenient.
On the morning of my test the department was offline and everyone writing had to reschedule.
My test was scheduled for February 7, but I was looking for a Saturday time.
I was told a Saturday slot was not available. This was the only time available; I had to miss two classes at University.
I arrived on the 7th, I sat at the computer to do my test and although the employee did not have my application, I was told to proceed.
I typed in my ID number on the computer and it said there was no booking available.
I had my application with me clearly indicating my booking for the 7th.
The explanation was, when my test was booked again, the system was still recovering from being offline and there was no available time for me to write.
I asked the employee what needs to be done and if a Saturday would be available.
I was told previously that learner’s tests cannot be done on Saturdays, which was confusing as I was now told the 15th and 22nd was available to write my test.
I was told to call on February 19 to confirm a booking for my learner’s on the 22nd and I did, and was told a proof of a booking would be sent to me.
I was later informed that the department would not be open on Saturday.
No explanation was given and I had to call back to give another date to write my test.
The new dates given were February 24 and 28, which I could not make due to university.
The employee told me March 7 was available and I could book for that date.
This is the third time my test has been postponed and I have absolutely no power to do anything about it.
This is the department’s fault.
Their incompetence is not only wasting my time, but also my money and my patience.
Nom de plume.
