Bowler shares his story

"It feels great to play away games at other clubs, but it feels even better to win those games."

Barry Ireland has been playing bowls for 30 years.

Recently the passionate bowls player was seen practising the sport while at the Jeppe Bowling Club.

The Bedfordview resident told the NEWS sport had been a big part of his life while growing up.

He used to play hockey and cricket.

On April 15, when the NEWS bumped into Barry, he explained the sport and why he enjoyed it so much.

Barry said he was practising in order to get his arm back in to ensure he made perfect deliveries.

“To play bowls one needs skill. It is a challenging game to play well,” said Barry. He explained that the sport is a great way for individuals to make friends and have a good time.

“It feels great to play away games at other clubs, but it feels even better to win those games,” said Barry.
