Observatory Golf Club Championship

Golfers tee off at club champs.

Observatory Golf Club held its Club Championship on April 21 and 22.

Day one started off on a high note with the A-Division being led by Shaun Neuhoff, with defending champion George Moepadira right on his heels.

New members Gino Pisanti and Clint Shaw also made an early impression on the leaderboard and ensured a tough contest was to follow.

The B-Division also saw some regular contenders taking up the challenge with some good scores coming through from the likes of Jeff Holliday, Didier Presse and Yusuf Moosa, while the charge from the C-Division came from OBS stalwarts Dave Gelman, Larry Lotis, Frank Meaker and Pete Saunders.

The women’s division saw some great golf from Carol McAleenan, Evelyn Doubell and Chrissie Hammer.

On day two the course setup was the deciding factor and ensured that the cream would rise to the top.

The most critical holes were definitely the 4th, 5th and 6th, which many likened to an outing at Augusta or any of the majors with lightening greens and tricky hole locations.

At the end of day two, it was defending champion George Moepadira who took top honours edging out a valiant charge from Shaun Neuhoff.

Jeff Holliday and Pete Saunders took B and C-Divisions respectively, while Carol McAleen took the title of Club Champion with Evelyn Doubell clinching B-Division in the women’s divisions.
