Swimmers excel at Lois Basset Memorial Gala

"Some of the senior swimmers offered their help in supporting our little ones and helped with timekeeping."

Twelve swimmers from Active Aquanauts Swim School and Stingrays Swim Club excelled when they swam in the Lois Basset Memorial Gala.

Hosted by Eastern Gauteng Aquatics, it was held on February 16.

The annual gala strives to encourage children to learn how to race in a friendly, less competitive environment.

Seen here are some of the swimmers who competed in the Lois Basset Memorial Gala. Swimmers Clarissa Hughes and Mariska Hughes can be seen on either side of coach Kate Jones.

Kate Jones of the club said each child swam well and most walked away with a top-eight ribbon or a podium place medal in every event.

The team of only 12 swimmers finished fourth overall.

“Some of the senior swimmers offered their help in supporting our little ones and helped with timekeeping,” said Jones.

She congratulated all of the swimmers for their achievements.
