Roetz passes 7th Dan black belt grading
"It is not an easy grading to prepare for, years of training went into this exam."
Edenvale-based sensei Michael Roetz has passed his seventh Dan (Nanadan) black belt grading.
He was graded on February 9 by All Style Karate World Federation’s international grading panel in Potchefstroom.
All Style Japanese grand master shihan Mikio Yahara and sensei Masamichi Otsuka were in South Africa to host a seminar and agreed to do the grading.
As an active karateka, Roetz is proud of his achievement.
He has practised karate for 42 years and is still going strong.
“It is not an easy grading to prepare for, years of training went into this exam,” said Roetz.
During his karate career, Roetz trained with SA head instructor and deputy grand master shihan Malcolm Dorfman and worked hard at his karate career nationaly and internationally.
Currently, Roetz is the director for All Style Karate – Karate South Africa in addition to having his international style judge A, instructor A and examiner B class certification.
