Clean sweep for Jeppe

Jeppe Quondam Tennis Club’s C team continued their winning streak after they hosted the Pirates Greenside Tennis Club at their home courts in Bedfordview on February 9.

The teams were competing for the Egoli Men’s Second League.

Jeppe C competed against Pirates Greenside D.

Each tennis club consisted of three teams for the men’s doubles.

Jeppe C1 were Alex Meintjes and Rodger Ruhrmund.

Jeppe C2 were chairperson Bill Basterfield and captain Denis Hutchings.

Jeppe C3 were Andrew Collins and Ron Hill.

Pirates Greenside D1 were represented by Reinald Bormann and Stefan Naudé.

Pirates Greenside D2 were Adrian Freeman and Johan Gouws.

Pirates Greenside D3 were Enzio Zambetti and Peter Copazza.

The results for the Sunday matches were as follows:

• Jeppe C1 beat Pirates Greenside D1 by 10-3.

• Jeppe C2 beat Pirates Greenside D2 by 8-5.

• Jeppe C3 beat Pirates Greenside D3 by 12-1.

• Jeppe C1 beat Pirates Greenside D2 by 8-5.

• Jeppe C2 beat Pirates Greenside D3 by 10-3.

• Jeppe C3 beat Pirates Greenside D1 by 11-2.

• Jeppe C1 beat Pirates Greenside D3 by 10-3.

• Jeppe C2 beat Pirates Greenside D1 by 7-6.

• Jeppe C3 beat Pirates Greenside D2 by 9-4.

Overall, Jeppe Quondam C won the fixture against Pirates Greenside D with a clean sweep of 85-32.

Basterfield said the C team previously played against Bryanston Tennis Club, and Jeppe Quondam C won by 91-26.

“The C team is doing quite well, but we are still two weeks into a five-week league.

“For the next matches our C team will be playing away in Auckland Park,” said Basterfield.
