Tessner steps it up on the field
She was part of the assistant referee technical team and was not the referee for the game.
The printers devil slipped into the March 4 edition of the NEWS.
The article “Temicka runs the match” incorrectly stated that Temicka Tessner refereed a rugby game between UJ and UCT on February 3 during the 2020 Varsity Cup.
It further stated Tessner was a Grade 10 learner at Edenvale High School. This too was incorrect.
Tessner’s father, William, informed the NEWS that although Tessner assisted in the Varsity Cup she was part of the assistant referee technical team and was not the referee for the game.
She is also currently a Grade 11 learner at Edenvale High.
The 17-year-old is the youngest female referee on the Golden Lions Rugby Union panel and most recently was in action during the Saheti Sevens festival.
The NEWS apologises for any inconvenience or harm caused.
