The 69ers beat the Tool Saders by seven wickets in their final match of the Last Man Stands (LMS) tournament on February 15.

The match was played at Elandspark School, with the Tool Saders batting first.

Tool Saders’ Johan Van Greunen was the best performing batsman, managing 51 runs from 29 balls not out. The Tool Saders ended with a final score of 125 runs for the loss of six, after 20 overs.

A strong batting display from Christopher Swanepoel helped ensure the 69ers’ victory. His man of the match performance that saw him score 50 runs not out from 39 balls. The 69ers scored 130 for the loss of one wicket in 19.3 overs.

The Tool Saders’ captain, Gavin Rautenbach said, “It was a tough ending to the season. The competition has been good, fun and family has always come out in support. The performance was not bad, it has been good and we have to work on a few things but overall we are a good team. Going into the future the team will stay the same. We will just re-register and play again. Our goal for next season is to be in division one we hope to be the best in the LMS cricket tournament.”

The 69ers’ captain, Charles Hattingh said, “This was our last game of the season and we felt confident and relaxed. We went out and had a lot of fun. It was our first season in the LMS cricket tournament. Things didn’t go according to plan, but we will consolidate next season, grow stronger and hopefully next season we will compete for a few more honours.”
