Bat walk and talk at Modderfontein

The Bat Interest Group (BIG), in association with the Modderfontein Conservation Society will hold a bat talk and walk.

The Bat Interest Group (BIG), in association with the Modderfontein Conservation Society, will hold a bat talk and walk event on November 11.

The event will take place at the Old Magazine in the Modderfontein Reserve.

The talk will dispel the many old-wives’ tales, fears and superstitions many people harbour regarding these hard-working and useful little creatures.

The event kicks off at 5pm with a talk and introduction to the wonderful world of bats.

This will be followed by a walk with a bat expert using a bat detector to check out what bats are present.

The event is open to the public and families are encouraged to come along and join in.

Those who will attend are urged to bring along a chair, snacks, torch, walking shoes and warm clothing.

There will be a charge of R60 for adults and R20 for children for conservation.
