GWM South Africa’s chief operations officer, Conrad Groenewald, states, “The LTD is a natural progression for GWM, considering the increasing demand from both business users and private buyers for double-cab bakkies. Right from the start, we carefully planned the range to offer the best possible solutions for all types of bakkie users, and the LTD takes it to a whole new level.”
The LTD model boasts 18-inch glossy black sports alloy rims with all-terrain tyres, a sports bar, a plastic bedliner, a snorkel, and a front winch, giving it an appealing and confident appearance. Additionally, it features a convenient 120W 220V connector and is equipped with GWM’s new four-wheel drive system.
While other variants come with a torque-on-demand (TOD) four-wheel drive system, the LTD model offers a fully selectable system with various driving modes, including 2H, 4H, snow, mud, sand, and 4L. The off-road systems include the cross-country expert mode and drive mode memory, which connect to both front and rear differential locks.
Groenewald adds, “The LTD model incorporates all the high-level specifications and luxurious features from the original P-Series passenger double-cab range, making it one of the most comfortable and safe options available on the market, all at a highly competitive price below R700 000. We have also included a couple of additional features, such as off-road cruise control and trail turn assist, which reduces the turning circle by three metres to enhance your 4×4 maneuverability, as well as an off-road thermal management system.”
The LTD model is equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel turbo engine, delivering 120kW and 400Nm of power through a smooth-shifting ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
Active and passive safety features are well taken care of, including an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution, traction control, rollover mitigation, and the brake assist system. The model also includes hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system, along with dual front airbags, side curtain airbags, front central airbags, and ISOFIX mountings as standard.
The new GWM P-Series LTD double-cab 4×4 AT is priced at R694 950 (incl VAT), accompanied by a standard five-year/100 000km warranty and service plan, and five-year unlimited mileage roadside assistance.
