WATCH: Fortune favours winner despite initial disbelief over Toyota Starlet prize win

Organisers had to send photos of the car and keys to convince Fortune Fortune Ditlhase that his Toyota Starlet win was real before he eventually attended the handover in Bedfordview on May 21.

Fortune Ditlhase has officially taken ownership of a Toyota Starlet after initially refusing to believe he had actually won it through the VodaBucks Summer competition.

When organisers contacted him to inform him of the win, he assumed it was a scam and remained unconvinced despite repeated attempts to confirm the prize.

In an unusual step, organisers sent photographs of the vehicle and the keys to prove the competition was legitimate and that the car was real.

After further convincing, and with organisers and media reportedly relieved, Fortune eventually agreed to attend the formal handover.

The event took place on May 21 at Toyota Motus Bedfordview, where he arrived to take ownership of the Toyota Starlet, still appearing somewhat in disbelief.
