Bowl final defeat fuels Boksburg Rugby Club’s determination for Peregrine League

The Owls now gear up for the Valke Peregrine League that starts for them on June 1.

The Boksburg Rugby Club players are confident they will emerge stronger from the 48-32 loss in the President’s Cup Bowl final against Springs on April 27.

While the Owls got off to a great start to lead 10-0, the home team found its feet and scored two converted tries.

When the whistle blew at half-time, the score was 14-10 for Ou Ryperd.

There were nail-biting moments in the second half, but Springs went up a gear and secured the win.

Springs second team won 36-10.

Boksburg chairperson Renier Mostert said while the scoreboard does not reflect in their favour, the essence of Boksburg truly shines in moments of challenge and adversity.

“I congratulate Springs Rugby Club and our players, coaches, and supporters for their unwavering dedication and resilience displayed throughout the game,” said Mostert.
Mostert said character and unity get tested in times of defeat.

“I’m proud to declare that we emerged from this experience even stronger. Losing a match is undeniably disheartening, yet it is crucial to recognise that it does not mark the conclusion of our journey. It acts as a catalyst for growth and improvement. This setback must fuel our determination to intensify our efforts on and off the field, especially with the upcoming Valke Peregrine League in mind,” said the chairperson.
