Accident claims three lives
Three people died in an accident on Sunday evening, on the R103, near Alberton Road.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to the accident and, upon their arrival at the scene, they found that a minibus and another motor vehicle had collided, after which the minibus overturned.
Three people lost their lives, while 13 others were injured.
A baby boy sustained critical injuries and the Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift him to hospital, for the urgent medical care he required.
Another person also sustained critical injuries, while the rest of the people sustained moderate to serious injuries.
All the injured were treated on scene before they were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.
The exact cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
