Awards for top cops
Carnival City and the Afrisun Trust honoured the men and women of the SAPS who go beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety and security of all those living in Ekurhuleni, during a glittering function over the weekend.

The ninth annual Afrisun/Ekurhuleni SAPS Merit Awards took place in the Rio Rooms, at Carnival City, on Saturday, last week, and saw members of the SAPS honoured in several categories.
Const Lebohang Ramaesa, from the Tsakane Police Station, took home the award for Best Visible Police Member.
Ramaesa was recognised for his active role in Social Crime Prevention campaigns in Tsakane, including school searches, where dagga, drugs and dangerous weapons were seized.
Ramaesa has also organised awareness campaigns that have resulted in a decrease in crime in the area.
The winners in the other categories are:
* Best Social Crime Prevention/Communication member: Sgt Olga Masethla (Germiston).
* Best Detective: WO Siphiwe Zwane (Duduza).
* Best Community Police Forum: Alberton CPF.
* Best Reservist: Lieut-Col Michael Zulu (Vosloorus).
* Best SAPS Support: Xolani Kenneth Tyam (Bedfordview).
* Best Volunteer: Miriam Mdaka (Katlehong).
* Best SAPS team: Actonville.
* Top Cop: Sgt Olga Masethla (Germiston).
